   congratulations on getting there boys! a shame you weren’t given the opportunity to bliss the saturday crowd out, but the thursday crowd will be lucky lucky punters. well done, sophxxx

   Commiserations lads.

   Cheer yourself up with some lovely banana friters:

   My recipe

   Ingredients
   For the batter
   100g/3½oz cornflour
   50ml/2fl oz milk
   1 tsp cinnamon
   1 tsp sesame seeds
   For the fritters
   500ml/18fl oz vegetable oil, for deep frying
   1 banana, peeled and cut into thick chunks
   icing sugar, to dust

   Method
   1. For the fritters, heat the oil in a deep heavy-bottomed saucepan, until very hot or until a breadcrumb dropped in sizzles gently in it. (CAUTION: Hot oil is very dangerous. Do not leave unattended).
   2. For the batter, place all the batter ingredients into a bowl and whisk together.
   3. Add the bananas to the batter mix to coat the bananas.
   4. Carefully place the battered banana pieces into the hot oil and fry, until crisp and golden. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper.
   5. To serve, serve the fritters in a pile on plate, dusted with icing sugar.
